Kasardevi is a village near Almora, Uttarakhand. It is known for the Kasardevi Temple, a Devi temple.

It is located on the hilltop , situated on the ridge of the Almora-Bageshwar highway on the Kaashay hills of the Kumaon Himalayas. It is about 10 kms away from Almora. One KM away there is a village of Kalimath popular with tourists. The temple consists of the two temples one of devi and another of lord Shiva and Bhairava.

The hilltop provides beautiful scenery of the valley and Himalayas that make it a perfect place for photography.
The temple first became known when SWAMI VIVEKANAND visited the temple in the 1890s and meditated there, sharing their experience in their diaries.
A large fair, known as Kasardevi fair, held at Kasardevi Temple on the occasion of Kartik Poornima in the Hindu calendar corresponding to November and December.
Mystery
The area near the temple is known as “Van Elan Belt” where there is a huge geomagnetic body inside the earth. According to the mythological beliefs, here the Goddess Mother was revealed. It is said to be the first place in India where magnetic power is present. It is said that the devotees of the mother who come here climb hundreds of stairs without any tiredness.

It is said that many powers exist around this Goddess temple. This is the reason why NASA scientists have also done research about this place but till date the mystery of this temple has not been solved.
